While I was randomly looking at the European battle groups to see which teams are in a great position to join the cool kids club of "Last R1 of WotLK, u mad?!" I was quite surprised by the differences on so many different levels. I realize that those titles aren't set in stone just yet, seeing as there is still 10+ days of competition to go but I figured the information how the season went up to this point could be very eye-opening towards game balance and the competitiveness of European battle groups. This section might be hilariously inaccurate at the time of the cutoff, but it could definitely be interesting to see how much changed.

First I sat down to determine the comps who are currently sitting at Rank 1 (quite some are sharing which I will show later, hence why the number of teams might seem unusually high). The outcome is quite surprising:

Wizards only slightly ahead of skillcomps? 4 RMPs(which are not all played by Dignitas by the way)? 6 Arms-Warrior teams? Now that was most certainly not on my balance compass. I think we only have 4 Shadowmourne users in this list as well, two of which are on the DKs of the double heal. Paladin count higher than Druids which in my opinion doesn't exactly display the situation which obviously is not the purpose of these statistics. The most important message of these numbers? Every class has at least one Rank 1 comp even on "good" BGs.

Another thing that really surprised me is how many of those teams are absolutely dominating their Battle groups with win percentages of 85% and above. 18 Teams are dominating while only 8 teams are below the 85% but never going under 77%. Mass gaming doesn't seem too successful as a method of grinding rating at the top anymore (like it was for example with Fnatic against Reckful's Rogue/Ret/Priest) which might be a symptom of queue dodging.


This really made me curious. With so many top teams who are just obliterating the competition, which Battle grounds in Europe have great competition? While the statistics don't account for some very important factors which you want to consider when objectively judging the strength of a BG, they certainly give a hint.

Status quo of Rank 1 competition on European BGs

Competition to be expected on the following BGs based on amount of teams with small rating differences at the top:

Frenzy, Vindication

BGs with a reasonable possibility of title sharing:

Reckoning, Vengeance, Embuscade, Cyclone, Flurry, Whirlwind

BG led by one team with comfortable rating advantage:

Charge, Emberstorm, Misery, Rampage, Blutdurst, Blackout, Cataclysm, Cruelty

As far as we can tell from these statics, Cyclone has certainly lost its overall domination and is only one of many BGs you should transfer to if you want top notch competition. aAa transferring over for a week and demolishing the scene with an impressive score of 252-9 also supports that point. When I asked Enigmz at Regionals how he did it, he responded "I can't help it, it's just a **** BG!". While exaggerated, there is not much more to add to this statement.


I anticipate that a couple seemingly "save" BGs by the time the cutoff hits will require 3k+ rating for the prestigious Wrathful Gladiator as new teams pop up. Vindication certainly seems like a great opportunity for teams who want to chime in in the next couple of hours.


Browsing through the armory, I also saw many familiar faces I met at European Regionals and I'm sure more are hidden behind smurfs as well. It is safe to say that in the last season before Cataclysm, the spread of great teams is high and some "locals" are able to go toe to toe with the top dogs. Tournament caliber players are all over the place, yet to be discovered by the fans and of course the sponsors.

Ну и вот это печалит. К примеру тотже Гидра который играет и играет уже сколько.

Никто не заметил, что он путает шквал и вихрь, не?

Он пишет, что топ1 выше 2.9 на вихре и топ1 ниже 2.8 на шквале(рядом с виндикейшнлол)

Да пофиг че он путает, главный смысл поста, в том что среди европейцев уезжать на треш-бг лутать тайтл это вполне ОК и никто за это не порицает)

Танкз прокнул на 2800 в середине сезона и стопнул :)

Точнее говорить не в середине, а до появления обьектов и шадоуморнов сразуже после баффа ресы , что не удивительно.
Опятьже все циклон, только там вначале сезона можно поднять такой огромный рейт и стопнуть.

ты думаешь сейчас диспелклив не в состоянии с шадоуморном взять топ 5 скажем? )

Имхо в тиму даблхила Фена засунуть Адва (оч. охуенно дамажил, играя с Изди и Венжи) и рейтинг их вряд ли поменяется)

Может , но все очень рандомно, все зависит от сетапов которые им попадуться.Нам играть против фена легче чем против лсд с 2300 с аффлилоком,а игра с кеброй в разы лечге чем против рандом прожимал Энх + вар + шм + рдру.

Нет, дабл хил как раз отличается очень высокой стабильностью для ладдерных игр.

в истории игр у них как и у нас ,конечно 50% игр против ретрикхантприст 30% бисткливы а оставшиеся лсд+рмп?).

разве дабл хил с шадоуморном не должен аоешить бистклив, лсд, рмп? ) Ретриков не так и много.

Бистклив с хантом убиваем.
Я имею ввиду сетапы с энхом и варом(80% случаев с шмом) + хил.
Лсд не аоешится на даларане и острогорье.
Судя по стримам Гидры у рмп слабые шансы проиграть любому даблхилу).
